Description of Request

Submitted By: David Graham, Dawn Tarabochia

Dr. Graham and Dr. Tarabochia’s work considers human motion, including neuromotor deficits, and relationship to injury in older adults. At this time their lab operations have been spread between two shared spaces; the Neuromuscular Biomechanics Laboratory (NMBL) in CFT2, which is shared between Health and Human Development and the Engineering Department, and the EHHD instructional lab space located in Harrison Hall rooms 101 and 101A. NMBL is often at capacity and using this space has become difficult to impossible given the necessary requirements of their studies. In response, lab activities were relocated to Harrison Hall, which is a teaching space and shared by several staff for research activities.  Given the number of lab sections and course bookings being taught in this space the same difficulties of use are now occurring in Harrison.

Dr. Graham and Dr. Dawn Tarabochia have requested space for the next two years until the opening of the Wellness Center. This space will support Dr. Graham’s work (currently two funded projects), his students (2 PhD, 3MS), as well as Dr. Dawn Tarabochia’s students (4-5 Masters students) and will support them in growing their research program. They have requested 450-600 square feet of space to allow for placement of 3 pieces of equipment and room to work, access to a large open space on occasion would be an added benefit. The allocation of CFT5 306 and 346 would be a total of 463 sf. Room 346 would serve as lab space for equipment and testing, while room 306 would serve as a workspace and private consultation area. Additionally, room 333 could be scheduled and utilized if a large open space were needed.

Rob Ament of the Western Transportation Institute (WTI) is currently occupying room 306, he would relocate to room 311 already assigned to WTI but currently vacant.
