Description of Request

Submitted By: Chief Mike Stanley, University Police Department

The Huffman Building is currently occupied by the University Police Department (UPD) including their
Parking Services division. The building is at capacity, and UPD is anticipating multiple new hires, including
several more officers, program coordinators and emergency management personnel. Chief Mike Stanley has
requested to relocate Parking Services out of Huffman in order to accommodate growth within UPD. While
considering reuse of Swingle Health Center a location was identified for consideration. The existing
reception counter and waiting area would serve the needs of Parking Services. The space is configured in a
similar fashion to the current parking services space with individual windows for serving the public and
interior work stations for additional staff. There are also private offices in close proximity for management
positions. Swingle Health Center is centrally located on campus providing enhanced accessibility for
students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Existing health center parking spaces would be preserved for parking
enforcement vehicles and visitors needing to utilize services. Existing space in the Huffman Building would
be repurposed to move the records team and revise their processes and house new staff.
