Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies courses taught: JPNS 325: Women in Japanese Culture & Literature
Research interests: Dr. Tillack’s research interests include modern & contemporary Japanese literature, particularly literary/filmic representations of social space during Japan's "economic miracle." He is also interested in exploring the the notion of the "other;" or all those who, throughout Japanese modern history, have been regarded as such: women, minorities, foreigners, outcastes. His WS course looks at both the mainstream discourses on these categories as well as the culture various "members" of such categories have produced.
