The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services partnered with Montana State University Extension in order to provide a detailed examination of poverty at the the State, County, and Reservation levels in Montana.

The poverty indicators used in this project are a subset of the standard ones used for the United States in evaluating the extent of poverty, assessing needs, and measuring services and benefits targeted at low-income populations.

Some of our data sources include Montana’s official website, the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Administration for Children and Families and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
