All appeals should be submitted in writing (via email is acceptable) within (15) working days from the date on your tresspass notice and should meet the criteria listed below. An appeal will initiate a review of the duration of the trespass, and the review may go to a hearing.

Criteria for submitting an appeal of the trespass:

1. New evidence, unavailable at the time the trespass was issued, has been discovered that could substantially impact the original decision. A summary of this new evidence and its potential impact must be included in their letter of appeal.

Appeals Instructions

  1. Email a cover letter requesting an appeal:
    1. Describe your situation and any new information or procedural error.
  2. Include any relevant documentation pertaining to the new information or procedural error listed in your cover letter.

Next Steps:

  1. If a sufficient claim is presented under the specified grounds, the Vice President for Student Success shall accept the appeal. If sufficient claim is not presented, the appeal shall be dismissed with written notice to the appealing student and complainant, if any.
  2. Within twenty (20) calendar days from receipt of the record, the Vice President for Student Success shall review the entire record and render a written decision. The Vice President for Student Success may remand the case to the University Police Department for further findings of fact or clarification.
  3. The decision of the Vice President for Student Success shall be based on the record only and is the final decision of the University. A copy of the decision shall be sent to the trespassed student, the complainant (if any) and included in the record.
