Vanessa graduated from Montana State University with a B.S in Chemical Engineering in 2011. Shortly, thereafter, she saw the 10.6 um light and joined the Minton Laboratory. She is currently in her third year of graduate study and is working toward a PhD in physical chemistry. Her research interests focus on the oxidation of ultra-hot carbon by atomic oxygen. In 2013, she was awarded a National Defense Science and Engineering Fellowship.
