Sillohette

James Becker

Co-Director

Assistant Professor, Health and Human Development
Ph.D. from Oregon University, 2013

Dr. Becker’s research seeks to understand anatomical and biomechanical factors related to common orthopedic injuries, identify and evaluate the effectiveness of current and novel rehabilitation programs, and evaluate the efficacy of screening programs for identifying individuals at risk for various injuries.  Dr. Becker also performs research in the area of sports performance, with particular emphasis on the sport of track and field.

Corey Pew

Corey Pew

Assistant Professor, Mechanical & Industrial Engineering
Ph.D. from University of Washington, 2017

Dr. Pew's interests are focused on biomechanics and human-machine interactions with applications to the advancement of lower limb amputee technologies. This includes the design of new amputee devices as well as sensing and control schemes to facilitate two-way communication between the user and the prosthetic device. In addition, I have interests related to running and human performance evaluation and improvement.

Graduate Students

Patrick Fischer Lab BioPatrick Fischer,  Mechanical Engineering

Patrick graduated from Montana State University in 2017 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently working on his PhD in Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on knee injury risk and prevention, and he is currently working on improving return-to-play assessments for high school athletes in rural communities across Montana.

Hobbies

Patrick enjoys singing bass with the Aoide Chamber Singers, reading, bodybuilding, staying involved in the Bozeman community, and hiking his way around Montana. He is an Eagle Scout and an alumnus of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Allison Hoffee

Allison Hoffee, Exercise and Nutrition Science

Allie was raised in Utah and graduated from Montana State University in 2019 with a BS in Exercise Science. The field of biomechanics caught Allie's attention when she assisted as an undergraduate researcher in the Neuromuscular Biomechanics Laboratory. Allie's research interest include injury assessment, prevention, and rehabilitation, as well as sports performance, especially in pediatric populations.

Hobbies

Hiking, skiing, climbing, crafting, photography, and baking of yummy muffins and other baked treats.

Caily Schroeder

Cailyn Schroeder, Exercise and Nutrition Science

Cailyn graduated from Montana State in 2019 with a BS in Kinesiology and dietetics. She then completed a dietetic internship and earned her Registered Dietitian credentials. Her research interest include rehabilitative outcomes following injury, and the impact of nutritional supplementation on biomechanical function. Her current research examines biomechanical outcomes following a periacetabular osteotomy.

Hobbies

Hunting, fishing, hiking, and generally anything outside.

Asal AflatounianFatemeh (Asal) Aflatounian, Mechanical Engineering

Asal was born in Yazd, Iran and grew up in Tehran. She graduated from Azad University in the Science and Research Branch in 2019 with a B.S. in Biomechanical Engineering. She is currently working on her PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Her research focuses on cognitive-motor function following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Hobbies

Seeking nature, reading books, travelling, listening to music, juggling, cooking, playing the violin, and playing games and sports.

Asal AflatounianDevon Doud, Mechanical Engineering

Devon graduated from Montana State University in 2020 with his BS in Mechanical Engineering.  He is currently working on his Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, with research focusing on osteoarthritis in Montana farmers and ranchers.

Hobbies

Hiking, backpacking, canoeing, reading, taekwondo, cooking, and any other excuse to spend time with his wife and kid.

Zeke Barden Bio PicEzekiel Barden, Mechanical Engineering

Ezekiel Graduated from Montana State University in May of 2021 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He has found a home in the field of biomechanics due to sports related injuries requiring 3 different surgeries. He is currently working on his MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering with research focusing on cognitive-motor function following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Hobbies

Lifting, hunting, skiing, dog training and being active outside.

Undergraduate Students
