Conference Assistant Responsibilities

Summer ConferenceAssistants (SCAs) help to manage the summer conference housing operations. SummerConference Assistants work closely with the Program Manager, Conference and Event Services staff, University Student Housing staff, and each other to ensure a high level of customer service is provided. Our Summer Conference Assistant positions provide a great opportunity to hone your customer service skills, along with dipping your toes into hospitality, supervision, property management, and more!Summer Conference Assistants work full time from May-August, where hours include 8-hour shifts, 5 days a week, for a total of 40 hours per week. There will be additional night/evening hours expected for conference check-ins, on-callresponsibilities, etc. 

Resident Advisor (RA) Responsibilities

The Summer Resident Advisor (RA) facilitates and promotes a positive community within the residence halls. RAs are peer “helpers” and assist in the growth and development of students as well as assist in maximizing the college experience. RAs serve as a liaison between the University Student Housing,Culinary Services administration,and students in the residence halls. Summer RAs have a great deal of administrative responsibilities and deal with an extremely diverse and transitory population. Short-term community development efforts are a focus in the summer due to the nature of the residents. The summer RA position is a great opportunity to welcome new students to campus and provide a positive first impression, build community, gain experience planning activities, and more.Additionally, summer RAs have the opportunity to workthe hall front desksup to 15 paid hours a week and assist withresidence hall tours.   

Desk Clerk (DC) Responsibilities

Desk Clerks (DCs) are our front-line customer serviceteam memberswho staff our front desks and help students and guests throughout their stay.Desk Clerks also provide administrative support, monitor the safety and security of the buildings, assist with wayfinding on campus, and help with projects as we prepare for the upcoming school year. Thedesk clerk position is a great opportunity to learn customer service, hospitality, and administrative skills.  

Student Custodian Responsibilities

Our Summer Student Custodiansaremembers of our building services team, helping to provide a quality first impression of our buildings. Custodial team members assist with vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors:cleaning and sanitizing spaces; collecting garbage; gathering linens; furniture and appliance movement; and generally working together with our entire summer staff team to ensure our summer occupants have a clean space to call home no matter how long their stay. Thisis a great opportunity if you’re interested in property management, hospitality, working with a team, and being able to see your hard work at the end of the day.
