During Fall semester, students who want to work towards the Diversity & Inclusion Ambassador (DIA) certificate will enroll in a 1-credit seminar as part of the DIA program.

Become a Diversity & Inclusion Ambassador (DIA).  Represent DISC and support its mission at events and around campus.  Develop leadership skills.  Foster an inclusive community for Montana State University.

Program Description:

Diversity & Inclusion Ambassadors are a unique group of students with various experiences and social identities. Including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability status, socioeconomic status, religion, and citizenship status/national origin. DIAs are students who learn to collaborate with and understand their peers, and welcome all perspectives and identities.

The DIAs volunteer doing a variety of tasks for DISC from tabling to meeting with prospective students to attending weekly meetings and keeping the DISC office staffed. All DIAs are required to attend a DISC orientation event at the begining of Fall semester.

Ambassador Roles:

Diversity & Inclusion Ambassadors (DIAs) support diversity efforts at MSU through offering programs, meeting with prospective and current students, and engaging in activities that enhance the campus environment. DIAs serve as crucial members of the DISC team, acting as a resource for others in the Student Commons space and supporting the various student organizations in fulfilling their goals.

Commitment:

Students accepted into the Ambassador program must enroll in and successfully complete the 1-credit HLD-291 Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Development Seminar and adhere to the Diversity & Inclusion Student Commons expectations and mission. This 1-credit elective seminar is offered in partnership with MSU's Leadership Fellows, a program of the College of Education, Health and Human Development.

Student Benefits & Rewards:

DISC Ambassadors will receive a certificate of completion upon completion of all requirements and serving for two consecutive semesters. The benefits and rewards of being selected for the DISC Ambassador program include gaining a greater understanding of the Institution while identifying and improving upon leadership skills.
