About Us

The College of Education, Health and Human Development is committed to helping improve quality of life at every stage of life. We ensure that young children starting school will have great teachers and get the education they need to succeed in life. But we also help their families choose healthy food and promote exercise to make their bodies strong, provide counseling to help them grow up in a healthy family, and provide home and environmental tips to make their world a better place.

Students

Students in the college study for careers in education, school and mental health counseling, family and consumer sciences/extension, health enhancement, exercise science, community health, health promotion and nutrition. They also have opportunities to do cutting edge research alongside talented faculty members.

Service

Our college is home to a wide variety of programs that fulfill Montana's land grant mission of providing services to the people of Montana and beyond. Our college helps soldiers serve their country again as teachers - they can even take online classes while stationed overseas. Other programs help grandparents get support as they face challenges in raising their grandchildren, help HIV and AIDS patients find affordable and safe housing, and help tribal leaders prevent asthma in Native American children. The College of Education, Health and Human Development is also home to various centers and programs that provide unique services to improve quality of life. Programs include the MOST of Us campaign, Messengers for Health, the Child Development Center, the Student Advocates for Financial Education, the MSU Testing Service and the Teacher's Resource Center. You can find out more about some of our programs in our 2005 special report (pdf, 1.69MB).

Faculty

Our faculty are as diverse as the programs within our college. Their high quality research employs the latest technology and methods in the fields of biomechanics, food and nutrition, consumer sciences and education. Our research ranges from alternative vehicles, to education philosophy, to early cancer detection.
