Course Description

This course is designed to help students develop literacy regarding the cultural, social, and behavioral aspects of community health on a global scale. The course also strives to help community/global health students develop insight into a variety of differing health conceptions, health-related behaviors, and treatments that are seen across the globe, so that they both increase their awareness of ethnic and cultural differences as well as broaden their perspectives in terms of what ‘health’ means, and the variety of ways in which public health campaigns have been either successful or challenging throughout the globe. The overall aims of this course are approached through engaging with online lectures and videos, analyzing the assigned readings, and participating in group discussions. The course culminates with each student creating an online public health awareness campaign on a global health topic of their choice.
