In May/June 2011, Dr. Florence Dunkel and Kalli Wedlake traveled to Mali to conduct research about mitigating the effects of kwashiorkor in the Village of Sanambele. The visit was facilitated by Keriba Coulibaly, IER Scientist.

In May 2010, Dr. Florence Dunkel conducted a pre-departure training session at UC-Davis for two new Mali Externs.

The March 2010 visit to Sanambele was Facilitated by Mr. Keriba Coulibaly, Tenured Scientist at IER (Mali Equvalent of USDA). Keriba is a member of the Mali Agribusiness Center. Drs. Dunkel and Giusti, Extern Haywood-Sullivan from Montana State University, and Extern Luong from UC-Riverside Live in Sanambele, Mali, for seven days, March 2010
