The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Scholarship Application for Fall 2024 is now closed. Please visit our Cat Scholarships page for more scholarship opportunities.

  • Students may apply to the WUE Scholarship via the CatScholarship portal: https://montana.academicworks.com/
  • The main landing page will display all scholarship opportunities. If you search “WUE” using the search bar, you may read through information and view the scholarship but you won’t be able to apply until you Login.
  • Click yellow “Sign In” button in right hand corner.
  • Under the “Applicants and Administrators” tab, read the welcome message and click the yellow “Sign In” button.
  • You will login using your NetID.
    • If you are experiencing difficulty, please click “trouble signing in” to reset your password or claim your NetID.
    • To claim your NetID, you may do so here: https://www3.montana.edu/netidclaim/
  • Once you sign in, you will see the “General Application”. The General Application must be completed prior to submitting any individual scholarship applications. The General Application typically takes around 30 minutes. Please note that the portal will automatically log you out after 20 minutes of inactivity so we encourage you to click the “save changes” button frequently. You may return to update the General Application following submission.
  • Once you have completed the General Application, click the “Opportunities” tab to view individual scholarships.  
  • This page will list scholarship opportunities that you are eligible to apply for. Feel free to explore your options! Many departmental and alumni scholarships become available November 1 every year.  
  • Using the search bar, search “WUE” to locate the application.
  • Click the yellow “Apply” button next to the scholarship to begin your application.
  • The application will ask about academic background, high school activities, community services, employment activities, home/family responsibilities, and questions for reflection. We encourage you to gather this information in advance in preparation for completing the application.
  • If you do not see the yellow “Apply” button next to the scholarship, you may not be eligible to apply. Please review the details below.
    • Students are not eligible to apply if their cumulative high school GPA is below a 3.0.
    • Students are not eligible to apply if their home state is not one of the eligible WUE states. WUE States include: AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, NV, NM, ND, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY and U.S. Pacific Territories & freely associated states (Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Guam, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Republic of Palau).
  • Reminder: As you work throughout the application, we encourage your to click the “save changes” button frequently. The portal will automatically log you out after 20 minutes of inactivity.
  • Students are eligible to edit their WUE application up until the deadline. The deadline for Fall 2024 applicants to apply for the WUE Scholarship is January 3, 2024. Applications will not be considered following this date.
