Fall 2022

Montana State University will offer a limited number of scholarships and awards to talented transfer students who apply for admission. Many scholarships will be awarded through the MSU Premier Scholarship Program. These awards will be targeted toward Resident Transfer students who show academic promise.

Due to limited funding, resident transfer scholarships are highly competitive.

These awards will be applied toward tuition only, and are only available to students who are working on their first undergraduate degree.

To be eligible, you must complete the following as soon as possible:

  1. Apply for admission to Montana State University.
  2. Have official transcripts of all college-level work you have completed sent to MSU.
  3. Have your official ACT and/or SAT test scores sent to Montana State University directly from the testing company.
  4. Complete and submit the Premier Resident Scholarships application within the MyInfo Admission Checklist under the scholarship section. If you are a first time user or need help logging into MyInfo please see our MyInfo Checklist instructions. Your student ID is provided to you in your admit or acknowledgement letter or email. If you need your Student ID please email your admissions evaluator.

Apply early! We strive to provide awards to qualified applicants. However, resources are limited. These scholarships will only be available for a limited time. The priority deadline is February 1, 2022 for the fall semester! Apply early, funds may be limited.

If you are awarded a new resident student Transfer Scholarship, you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater, enroll for a minimum of 15 credits a semester, and maintain resident status and continuous enrollment to retain the award.  MSU transfer scholarships and awards are available to those seeking undergraduate bachelor degree programs only.

MSU aims to make a college education affordable. The FAFSA priority deadline was December 1, 2021 but we encourage all students to still apply in order to be considered for federal grants, work-study, and student and parent loans, so that we can best meet your financial needs. Need and non-need based aid programs are available. Filing the FAFSA will give you consideration for all financial assistance programs at Montana State University. Our MSU school code is 002532. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.gov.

MSU Transfer Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail. Only recipients will be notified.

Scholarship Deferment

Please be aware that MSU new student Premier, Achievement Award, Distinction and WUE scholarships are not deferrable and will be awarded to you for a specific start term that matches the start term on your application for admission. Scholarship parameters change every year.
