Montana State University will offer a limited number of scholarships and awards to talented transfer students who apply for admission. These awards are only available to students who are working on their first undergraduate degree.

Resident Transfer Scholarships Fall 2024:

Resident Transfer Scholarships are automatic, merit-based scholarships based upon academic good standing from your previous institution. This award is worth $1,500 per year (renewable for up to 3 years).

To be eligible, you must complete the following as soon as possible:

  1. Apply for admission to Montana State University.
  2. Have official transcripts of all college-level work you have completed sent to MSU.

It is essential to apply for admission at Montana State University as soon as possible. These scholarships and awards may only be available for a limited time.

These awards will be applied toward tuition only. 

To receive a scholarship, you must be in academic good standing from your previous instituition. 

MSU aims to make a college education affordable. The FAFSA priority deadline will be February 1, 2024, but we encourage all students to still apply in order to be considered for federal grants, work-study, and student and parent loans, so that we can best meet your financial needs. Need and non-need based aid programs are available. Filing the FAFSA will give you consideration for all financial assistance programs at Montana State University. Our MSU school code is 002532. *MSU will begin to award Resident transfer scholarships in Fall 2023.

Scholarship Deferment

Please be aware that MSU new student Premier, Achievement Award, Distinction, and WUE scholarships are not deferrable and will be awarded to you for a specific start term that matches the start term on your application for admission. Scholarship parameters change every year.
