Curiositas, the premier journal of undergraduate research at Montana State University, is currently accepting submissions for its Summer 2023 edition. Articles are reviewed by a faculty member in the respective discipline, and by an undergraduate-lead peer review process. Curiositas is made available in print and digital formats, and is indexed by some academic search engines (e.g., Google Scholar).

Curiositas is a fundamentally interdisciplinary project, and we believe that all undergraduate scholarship is meaningful and deserving of recognition. Submissions can be scientific or creative in nature. If you have a project you are proud of, we want to publish you!

Potential Submissions May Include:

  • A summary of a research project conducted in a laboratory.
  • An independent research project conducted for a credit.
  • An artistic project conducted for a class or credit.
  • An editorial piece describing your experience as an undergraduate researcher.

Projects do not need to be complete or have data to be considered. Example submissions are available at montana.edu/Curiositas.

Submission Requirements:

  • Manuscripts should be between 1200-2500 words (suggested).
  • All manuscripts must contain a one-paragraph abstract that summarizes the research. These should be written in the third person (e.g., “In this article, MSU art student Sam Backer describes his artistic process of…”)
  • Submissions should contain some visual element such as figures or images. Our editorial team can assist with this if required.
  • Non-artistic submissions must have a faculty sponsor or other discipline-specific faculty member who can review the submission for accuracy.
