Module 8: Integrating Local Histories & Cultural Traditions

In the final week of the class, you will try another Google search strategy to locate potential cultural resources or representatives that would be relevant to your students in your local community. You will also finish your lesson / unit plan, using the rubric as a guide, and reflect on what you learned throughout the course.

Module Objectives

  • Locate and evaluate cultural resources for educational use
  • Finalize a lesson / unit plan that is developmentally appropriate, culturally appropriate, considers DEI, utilizes digital tools effectively, and teaches information literacy and/or digital citizenship concepts.

Try the following Google search examples, or try your own, to locate local histories, cultural traditions, cultural representatives, etc.

Alaska Example:

site:.edu “Alaska Native*” cultur* (resource* or history*  or tradition*) (teach* or learn*)

Montana Example:

Revise your lesson / unit plan to meaningfully include cultural content / resources / ideas that enhance the learning experience. Refer to the rubric from week 3, and repeated below for your convenience, to ensure that you have met all the requirements of the assignment.
