Here are your Monday Minutes for the week of November 16-20, 2020.

Please make a point of reading this email every Monday (or Tuesday), as it highlights key department announcements, opportunities, and events, particularly events hosted by one of the Department of Education’s student clubs. It covers everything you need to know in a single email message.

From the Department Head

Dear Students, Staff, and Faculty,

We are almost there! Congratulations to all graduating students, and congratulations to our faculty and staff who made this possible! Please tune in to our EHHD graduation watch party on Friday, 11/20 at 3pm. Best of luck to you all as you complete final exams and projects, wrap up student teaching, or defend your thesis/dissertation!

This will be the final edition of our Fall 2020 Monday Minutes. We will resume on January 4, 2021. Have a safe and healthy winter break!

  • P-12 STUDENT TEACHING INFO SESSIONS: Last week we held the information sessions for students interested in student teaching during Fall semester 2021.  We had very limited attendance and the information session is mandatory. Fall 2021 student teachers must email John Melick by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 or they will not receive a placement.
  • Registration for Spring 2021 is underway. Due to the pandemic, we will not run group advising sessions this term. Instead, Elementary Education, Social Studies Broadfield, and General Science Broadfield majors may advise via email or make an appointment with David or Cyndi. Other teaching majors should plan to advise in their home departments.
  • The Education Advising Center is currently offering remote advising only.
    • Phone or Webex Appointments: M-F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, as available. You can schedule appointments at www.montana.edu/education/advising/calendars.html.
    • And, as always, you can contact us via email or phone. We’re available to respond during normal business hours (M-F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
  • Make sure to check the MSU COVID-19 webpage frequently as university and system-wide updates are available all in one place.

  • Join this FREE webinar on November 19 at 12pm MT time: Youth Beyond the Binary: A Conversation on Non-Binary Identities. This webinar will open with background on non-binary identities and lead into a panel discussion with four non-binary young people who will discuss what their gender means to them and how these identities overlap and compound with the many other identities they hold.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
