Zoe Seaford is a 2021 MSU Hilleman Scholar from Livingston, MT. She is studying Cell Biology and Neuroscience. Zoe is currently working as a lab assistant as doing Undergraduate Research in Edward Schmidt's Lab. She is a student who takes advantage of opportunities presented to her both with the MSU Hilleman Scholars Program and across campus. She will no doubt continue to be a leader in the community and world as she expands her knowledge academically and in researach science. She hopes to either go to medical school to become a general surgeon or stay in research science. We have no doubt that Zoe has the ability to make a difference in whatever she sets her mind to

"I would describe my experience [as an MSU Hilleman Scholar] as great. I have had nothing but support from the Hilleman Scholars Program and the Montana State community. Throughout the last year and a half I have had far more opportunities and experience than I could've ever hoped for and imagined."

My name is Zoe, I'm a sophomore majoring in Cell biology and Neuroscience. I come from a low income household, being the first member of my family to attend college was my main motivation. I plan to attend medical school after receiving my undergraduate degree. I want to be able to make healthcare more affordable and accessible.

My degree will allow me to directly work with patients affected by their disadvantages of our healthcare system.

The Hilleman Program has provided me with so many resources that have helped me be successful while trying to complete my undergraduate degree.  This includes things like writing the ideal resume to helping me receive my lab technician assistant job in Cooley Labs.

Summer Success will always hold a special place in my heart. I met so many peers that are now lifelong friends. SSA allowed me to go into my first semester of college feeling comfortable and confident on campus and in class.

Besides being involved in the Hilleman Scholars Program I’m also a member of the McNair Scholars Program as well as the Undergraduate Scholars Program. All of these organizations provide support for undergraduate research.

I’m really proud that I was able to receive an USP for the Fall semester as a sophomore at Montana State. I worked really hard to get involved in research my Freshman year, and I am so glad to see it paying off!

It genuinely changed my college experience for the better!
