Writing has been a major theme throughout Marina Calabrese’s career. Marina’s love for writing began in her high school English class thanks to an inspiring teacher, Mr. John Souza. Marina majored in Marketing/Merchandising at the University of Bridgeport where her writing skills evolved to include research papers, advertising copy, and marketing campaigns. In 2012, she enrolled in post-grad studies at the University of North Carolina’s School of Journalism where she gained a graduate certificate in Technology and Communication. She is working towards her master’s degree in the same program.

In 2016, Marina relocated to Seattle, WA where she enrolled in an organizational coaching program to develop consulting skills and to guide businesses with fostering positive, systemic transformation, leadership capabilities, and cultural change. The newly acquired coaching skills also enhanced Marina’s ability to mentor young professionals.

Fast forward to today, and you will find Marina teaching four sections of BMGT 205, Professional Business Communications at Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship. Teaching has allowed Marina to make meaningful connections with students while guiding them through the constantly changing demands of professional communication in the workplace. This semester, Marina will combine her love for writing, teaching, and mentorship to coach students in the Bracken Business Communications Clinic.

When she is not in the classroom, you will find Marina spending time with her family or outdoors gardening, fly-fishing, hiking and XC skiing.
