MSU Saturday Information and Dates

In order to follow strict social distancing and safety protocols, MSU Saturday programs have limited capacity. So, we encourage you to sign up early! Please note that you must register in advance for these events. No walk-on registrations will be allowed.

The February 20th MSU Saturday - All About STEM event is currently full, but families may sign up to be on the waitlist.

FAQ: If I sign up for the waitlist, how likely is it that I will be able to come and visit on February 20th?
It is very difficult to predict if a family will end up needing to cancel their plans to attend MSU Saturday, so unfortunately, we do not know the likelihood of the waitlist opening. We have several families on the waitlist and would like to accommodate all of them if possible. We keep very careful track of cancellations and will notify families as soon as someone else cancels and they can be taken off the waitlist.

The Office of Admissions is excited to announce a new addition to our regular MSU Saturday programming called MSU Saturday - All About STEM! MSU Saturdays are half-day programs which offer an in-depth preview of college life at Montana State University. MSU Saturdays are free and open to prospective students and families. Prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to connect with faculty and students, learn more about academic facilities, explore campus and meet with MSU Admissions Counselors. During our MSU Saturday - All About STEM day, prospective students and their families will also have the opportunity to hear from staff and faculty from MSU's science, technology, engineering, and mathematics programs.

Although all prospective students are allowed to register for our MSU Saturday - All About STEM program, we highly recommend that students interested in academic fields other than STEM register for one of our other four MSU Saturdays. The schedule of events for MSU Saturday - All About STEM will be specifically focused on STEM information and will not cover other academic areas.

MSU Saturday - All About STEM will be offered on:

  • February 20, 2021

Safety Guidelines

MSU will be taking several safety precautions for MSU Saturday events, including limiting attendance. To ensure that this event is safe for our visitors, campus and community, we have outlined some guidelines and expectations for this event:

  • Attendees must agree that they have not experienced symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days or been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Attendees will be asked to confirm this when they check in the morning of MSU Saturday.
  • MASKS ARE REQUIRED. Face coverings are required for all students, faculty, staff and visitors to Montana State University. Masks must be worn at all times. Appropriate face coverings are those that cover the mouth AND NOSE of the wearer. The face mask requirement is supported by guidance from the Board of Regents of the Montana University System, the Gallatin City-County Board of Health's mask requirement, and CDC guidance for public events. The mask requirement is strictly enforced and attendees who are unable or unwilling to wear a mask for the entire event will be asked to leave the event.
  • Attendees must stay with their registered group for the entire event. MSU Saturday has been organized according to strict social distancing and safety protocols. Attendees will stay in assigned groups of 25 people or less for the entire event. Re-entry will be very limited for safety purposes. Using the restroom, grabbing a coat from your car, etc. is acceptable and will not be included in the “no re-entry” guidance. If you leave campus during the MSU Saturday program, we ask that you do not re-join your group.
  • Attendees must agree to abide by social distancing and best practices. MSU Saturday is designed to keep staff, visitors and community members safe. We ask that you practice social distancing while in a group, wear your mask over your mouth and nose for the entire event, regularly wash your hands and use our hand sanitizer stations when available.
  • Please prepare for all weather possibilities and extended walks. This event includes a walking tour of campus and a great deal of walking between academic buildings. We ask that you plan for all weather outcomes and that you wear comfortable walking shoes.

Frequently Asked Questions

"STEM" is an acronym for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Our four regular MSU Saturday programs will not include presentations from individual academic departments.

The "MSU Saturday - All About STEM" program will include presentations from faculty and staff in STEM fields.

If you are interested in meeting with faculty and staff from fields other than STEM, we recommend scheduling a personalized weekday tour rather than attending an MSU Saturday program. Please do not register for more than one visit opportunity this spring as our space is limited in all visit programs.

Unfortunately, no. All participants must formally register in advance of the event. MSU Saturday programs adhere to strict county guidelines for event safety, including capping the number of participants, and we anticipate each event reaching its attendance cap quickly. Thank you for understanding!

Yes; MSU Saturday will have a limited re-entry guidance. If you need to use the restroom during the event, grab a coat from your car, etc., you will be able to return to the event. If you choose to leave the event/campus early, we ask that you please do not return to campus.

Please prepare for all types of weather and for extended walking across campus among several academic buildings. You may also want to bring a pen to take notes, but this is not required. Most of all, prepare to have fun!

Tour guides will give a full general tour of the MSU campus, including academic buildings, during MSU Saturday. However, these tours will not break off into individual facility tours.

Residence hall tours will not be available during MSU Saturday and no entry of the residence halls will be allowed. There will be a full "Living & Dining on Campus" presentation during MSU Saturday and we encourage prospective students to visit the Residence Hall website to learn more about the residence halls.

During MSU Saturday - All About STEM only, representatives from some of MSU's STEM-focused academic programs will be available to speak with prospective students and their families. MSU Admissions Counselors will also be available at MSU Saturday programs to answer general questions about areas of study.

If you are interested in meeting with someone from a specific area of study outside of STEM fields, we recommend scheduling a personalized weekday tour rather than attending an MSU Saturday program. Please do not register for more than one visit opportunity this spring as our space is limited in all visit programs.
