Turf to Trees Workshops 2024 - Register now!

Montana State University Extension's Urban Integrated Pest Management program is hosting two separate in-depth training sessions on August 14 and 15, 2024. The two workshops will focus on topics that are essential and beneficial for green industry professionals, MSU Extension agents, Master Gardeners, and other horticulture professionals & enthusiasts. Please register for the day that best suits you and your background. 

Day 1, August 14, is tailored to green industry professionals and MSU Extension agents.  Registration link

Time: 8:15 am to 4:00 pm
Location: MSU Bozeman Campus: Plant Growth Center, 2nd floor, Room 214

Topics on Day 1 will include "Urban Trees - The good, the bad, and the not so pretty", "What's Bugging Your Garden?", "How to ID that Tree", "Composting: Considerations for Various Materials", "Grow Your Own: Backyard Berries and Superfood Small Fruits", and "Urban Forestry Issues in Montana".

Our speakers are MSU & MSU Extension experts Ms. Kaleena Miller, Ms. Abi Saeed, Ms. Noelle Orloff, Ms. Sarah Eilers, Dr. Zach Miller, Dr. Eva Grimme, and Mr. Patrick Plantenberg, certified arborist and retired reclamation specialist for the State of Montana.

Continuing education credits:
MDA Pesticide Applicator Credits: Dealer (4); Ornamental & Turf Pest Control (4); Forest Pest Control (1); Demonstration & Research Pest Control (4); Private Agricultural Pest Control (4).

Topics on Day 2 will include "Backyard Composting: As Easy As Following a Recipe", "Urban Trees - The good, the bad, and the not so pretty", "What's Bugging Your Garden?", "How to ID that Tree", "Grow Your Own: Backyard Berries and Superfood Small Fruits", and "Urban Agriculture and Soils Health: Challenges with Urban Soils".

The 30 available spaces for each workshop will be filled first come, first served. A registration fee of $85 will be charged per participant and workshop. Lunch, snacks, and refreshments will be provided. Each workshop will run from 8:15am until 4:00pm. Please register by August 9, 2024.
