Break Housing Registration

The Montana State University Residence Halls close for Winter Break on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 1:00pm and remain closed through Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 12:00pm. Fees for housing and meals during this time period are not included in 2022 Fall semester or 2023 Spring semester room and board fees.

Any student staying in the residence halls during Winter Break must register for break housing and agree to pay $25 per night for Winter Break housing ($750 for entire break). Fees will be accessed to student’s accounts and no payment is due at the time of registration.

If a student needs to reenter their room without staying the night, there is a reentry charge of $20 per instance (charged to the student account) and the student must complete a Reentry Contract.

Registration for Winter Break Housing opens October 4, 2022 through the Housing Portal.

Students who are not registered for Winter Break will need to vacate the residence halls by 1:00pm on Friday, December 16, 2022.

Students moving off-campus or leaving MSU after the Fall 2022 semester are not eligible for Winter Break Housing and need to be checked out of their rooms by 1:00pm on Friday, December 16, 2022.

These accommodations are for residents only. Visitors and/or overnight guests are not allowed in the residence halls during university holiday breaks. Keep your CatCard with you at all times, as the desk staff may not be able to admit you to the hall without it. Mail delivery may be delayed or unavailable during Winter break depending on front desk and staffing availability.
