GRMN 101: Elementary German
Course Description
An elementary level course designed to help students acquire basic proficiency in communication within culturally significant contexts. An integrated approach to teaching language skills with emphasis on vocabulary acquisition and speaking activities.
This is the first in a series of courses that teach contemporary German language as well as aspects of the culture and literture of German speaking countries in central Europe. It is a beginner's course, no previous knowledge of German is required. You will be developing skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing German in a highly interactive learning environment.

I have been teaching German in various capacities for around 12 years. I have taught all levels from junior high to college German. I received my Master's in Education from Colorado State University and my Master's in German from Michigan State University. Besides learning languages, I really love spending time outside with my family.

If you are planning on taking the whole elementary German series (101 and 102), then you will need to get the 24 month bundle with online activities and hard copy book.
Auf geht's differs from traditional textbooks in a number of ways: a very heavy focus on culture, a more spaced sequence of grammatical topics, a use of authentic audio and written texts, and intentionally designed personal, interpersonal, and intercultural direction of class speaking activities. Designed for first-year German classes, our goa lis to target intermediate low profiency in German while providing a well-rounded understanding of everyday life in German speaking countries.
