Montana State University is located on the homelands of the Apsáalooke (Crow), Niimiipuu (Nez Perce), Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Lakota), Piikani (Blackfeet), Seliš (Salish), Shoshone, and Tsétsêhéstâhese (Northern Cheyenne). We acknowledge and honor with respect these nations, along with all the other nations that call Montana their homelands: A’aninin (Gros Ventre), Annishinabe (Chippewa/Ojibway), Annishinabe/Métis (Little Shell Chippewa), Ktunaxa/Ksanka (Kootenai), Lakota, Dakota (Sioux), Nakoda (Assiniboine), Ne-i-yah-wahk (Plains Cree), and Qíispé (Pend d’Oreille). We also acknowledge the stewardship and cultural relationship these nations have with the land, from which all the people in Montana benefit.
