Special Housing Requests
Some requests for special housing considerations can be recommended for approval by
the Office of Disability Services after verification of medical or disability-related
need. The process should be started with Residence Life by indicating needed or requested accommodations on the student's Housing Application or on the Request for Exemption for First Year Live In Requirement. Residence Life makes a final decision based on Disability Services' recommendation,
room availability, and the student's application date. Some decisions may also be
subject to committee review. Students who wish to be considered for special housing
requests are encouraged to apply for housing, submit a completed Student Intake Form and submit a completed Special Housing Request Form to our office well before the March 1 priority deadline.
Single Room Requests
Residence Life has a limited number of single occupancy rooms for which students with
qualifying disability limitations may be given priority placement.
Note on single room accommodation: A single room cannot guarantee a quiet environment. Students who need to study in
a quiet environment can have their study needs met in areas such as the library or
other designated quiet student areas on campus or in the Residence Halls. We will
evaluate each request on a case-by-case basis.
Special Dietary Requests
Some requests for special dietary considerations, which meet the definition of an
ADA-qualifying disability, can be recommended for approval by the Office of Disability
Services after verification of medical or disability-related need. The process should
be started with Culinary Services by indicating needed or requested accommodations via the Register Dietitian Nutritionist. While we understand students may have food preferences and intolerances, please
be aware that these conditions within themselves do not qualify as disabilities under
the ADA and will not result in being removed from the meal plan as an ADA accommodation.
Culinary Services makes a final decision based on Disability Services' recommendation.
Students who wish to be considered for special dietary requests need to submit a Special Dietary Request Form
If you are having any accessibility issues with the request form, need help filling
it out or if you would prefer a paper copy please contact the Office of Disability
Services for assistance. 406-994-2824
