Mark Jankauski

Montana State University recently awarded the Cox Faculty Award for Creative Scholarship and Teaching to Mark Jankauski, an associate professor of mechanical and industrial engineering in the Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering.

“This nomination is based on Dr. Jankauski’s substantial research accomplishments in the fields of dynamic modeling of compliant structures, bio-inspired dynamics, and modeling of fluid structure interaction,” wrote Dilpreet Bajwa, head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, and Sarah Codd, professor of mechanical and industrial engineering. “His accomplishments so far bring national recognition to the university and build the foundation for an incredibly bright future for his research in our department and MSU.”

Nominees for this award must have a “substantial record of scholarship and teaching,” and a “demonstrable union of superior research with excellence in upper division/graduate instruction.”

“As an undergraduate in his lab, I am so appreciative of the time Dr. Jankauski takes to mentor me while juggling other projects and advising his graduate researchers,” wrote Jenna McNally in a letter supporting his nomination. “I am planning to continue my work in Dr. Jankauski’s lab as a graduate student this spring. I know he will continue to be an incredible adviser.”

McNally joined Jankauski’s lab in April 2022.
