Microsoft Internet Explorer Alert

May 1, 2014 - There has recently been a vulnerability discovered in all versions of Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser. This can allow an attacker to take complete control of an affected computer. The attacker could then install programs, change data, or create new accounts with full user rights.
What should I do about it?
There is currently no fix available from Microsoft for this vulnerability. MSU strongly recommends that you use an alternate browser such as Firefox (FF) or Google Chrome until an update has been released.
IMPORTANT: For those already using FF or Chrome, make sure they are the newest versions.

- Download Chrome for Windows: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/?platform=win
- Download Chrome for Mac: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/?platform=mac

Still on Windows XP?
Microsoft ended support of Windows XP on April 8, 2014 which means that when a fix is finally available it will not include a fix for Windows XP computers. If you are still using Windows XP please stop using the Internet Explorer immediately and contact the UIT Service Desk as soon as possible for help upgrading.
If you are absolutely required to use Internet Explorer (and still on XP) while youâ??re waiting for your Windows upgrade, Microsoft has provided some workarounds to help protect you. Visit https://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/security/2963983.
