Critically acclaimed LA Times columnist and author of The Soloist, Steve Lopez delivered the keynote presentation for the 2009 Freshman Convocation. In addition to his work at the LA Times, he has written for Time magazine, Sports Illustrated, Life, Entertainment Weekly, the Philadelphia Enquirer, the San Jose Mercury News and the Oakland Tribune and has been recognized through numerous national awards for both column writing and magazine reporting.
