We also celebrate Kindness in Graduate Education Week. Our hats are off to graduate students who teach and assist with research in our department, as well as those earning a degree and working in education settings.

  • Summer nanny wanted for 9-year-old girl: Summer Nanny for 9 year old girl: Hello! We are looking for a nanny who overflows with awesomeness to join our family! We are a family of 3 humans and 2 pets.   We have a  9 year old girl who really enjoys learning, outdoors, and lots of sports.  We have two pets – a black lab named Wayne and a fish named Rainbow. This job ideally begins between mid May to the 1st week of June and lasts through August.  Duties would include child supervision with a combination of learning and outdoorsy summer activities, light housekeeping, preparation of meals, minor errands (groceries runs) and creating activities (swimming, biking, STEM projects, playdates, reading, art projects, adventure).  We absolutely love our time together, so if we can’t be there, we want to find someone with the same values to be there in place of us.

Nanny should understand this job allows play dates, may require carpooling to activities (ie, a birthday party or swimming lessons), positive reinforcement for light chores/projects around the house, clean up after play dates, and organizing a schedule.  Nanny should be flexible and be ok to work around our weekly schedules (schedule will be fairly consistent for days/times needed but could change based on our work load or weekend camping plans). We hope to find someone who is mindful of covid safety to keep us all healthy and embraces fresh air activities whenever possible.  We hope to find someone who appreciates the outdoors and learning as much as we do, is dependable, responsible, and a good communicator.

Pay will be through a W2 wage from $13-15. Most weeks this would be 4 ½ days (Monday-Thursday, 1/2 day Friday). We have a vehicle nanny can use during work hours, but will need to get to/from our house.  We may have periods of time we are out of town or have relatives in town…so much still to be determined with covid.  Ansley may attend 1-2 week long camps.  During those times, work would still be available if nanny is interested in helping with house projects (filing, creating lists, organizing garage, goodwill runs, planting flowers, etc…).

    Example of a day:
    • Work shift 7:30-5:15.  Make breakfast, have 1 hour of “chore time” such as making bed, folding clothes and putting away, Put dishes in dishwasher.  Go for a bike ride on trails, swim at the pool, or hike Sypes Canyon. Make lunch.  Read, stem project, piano practice, or art project.  Supervise play date (ex. Slip and slide in the yard). Prep or make dinner to be ready at 5:15 for family using hello fresh boxed ingredients and instructions.
    • Work shift 8-5.  Make breakfast. Drive to Bogert Pool for swimming lesson.  Pick up grocery list at Safeway. Painting project in the back yard.  Turn on the Roomba (will vacuum downstairs on its own) and make lunch.  Bike ride to the park and play on climbing rock. Read for 30 minutes.  Prep dinner and put dishes in dishwasher and clean off counter tops.   Water plants outside.

Our dog Wayne goes to work with us, but may be home some days too and would need to have a walk or hike on those days.

This job would likely be up to 32-42 hours per week, 9-10 weeks out of 12 weeks (June-August). May hours would very and be less (like 5-15 hours/week) if available.

Please send resumes or inquiries to Christi Coubrough at [email protected]
