The College of Engineering's Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (M&IE) Department offers the option to pursue a dual degree path, resulting in two Bachelor's of Science, one in Mechanical Engineering and the other in Mechanical Engineering Tech. This program requires 31 additional credits, 28 of which are upper division, on top of the primary (ME) degree's 128 required credits.

Mechanical Engineering (ME) students interested in obtaining a Second Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) must complete all necessary paperwork (see M&IE office for the MET Second Bachelor's Form), meet all university requirements specified in the Montana State University (MSU) Catalog, and complete a Curriculum and Catalog Change request specifying a Second Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering (M&IE) requires Mechanical Engineering Students in the 2023-2024 catalog to complete the following course requirements to qualify for a second Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET):
