Central to the mission of the College of Business is excellence in undergraduate business education. The new Bracken Business Communication Center (BBCC) is another exciting way the Bracken Center will support students in their academic and professional development. Dr. Renee Wachter, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Director of The Bracken Center remarks, "Students who are enrolled in business classes will now have a place to receive one-on-one coaching on how to improve and enhance their written and oral communication skills. For example, the Business Communication Center can assist a student with the structure and form of written documents, such as reports, and provide tips on the effective development of a presentation. Students can even receive help with presentation software like PowerPoint."

The BBCC will open this fall semester and will be located in Reid Hall 314A. The BBCC will be open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons, 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Appointments are a half an hour long and consist of a personal meeting with a communication coach. Ms. Linda Adams, Interim Director of the Business Communication Center, is excited about communication coaches working with students in a number of ways. "It is so exciting to see this Center become a reality. Students will be able to request assistance with a wide range of issues from maintaining continuity of voice and thought in an assignment, the selection of an appropriate document format, to a review of a finished project. All a student needs to bring to the appointment is a copy of the assignment guidelines and a finished draft."

More information about the BBCC will be forthcoming. Watch the bulletin boards and postings on Reid 314A and announcements by class instructors.
