The results are in! On the CPA exam taken in May 2000 (results for 2001 are not in yet), 75% of the MSU-Bozeman accounting students passed all parts of the exam on the first try. This is our highest pass rate ever!

MSU s consistent performance on the prestigious CPA exam has vaulted the university into several top NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy) ratings. The MSU-Bozeman accounting program has already been ranked number one in the national three times since NASBA first published its rankings in 1985. The first time was 1991. Sixteen times since 1983, the MSU College of Business has been among the top ten schools in the nation for first-time pass rate. The national pass rate averages around 15% each year.

The accounting program at MSU-Bozeman has a long history of success with every accounting student finding a great career opportunity. Every accounting student graduates with one or more job offers. Approximately 65% of these students begin their careers with national and international public accounting firms. Accounting professor Kent Swift states, Our long-term success in developing and maintaining relationships with accounting firms is largely determined by our ability to continue to place great students in career positions with these firms. The quality of our students is such that this is not a problem.

Congratulations to all of the accounting students and accounting faculty who worked hard for this honor!
