Dr. Marcie Reuer, a former MSSE graduate (2012), relocated from Alberta, Canada to Bozeman in 2014 to complete her doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction and join the MSSE team.  She has twelve years of teaching experience, teaching every grade from kindergarten to grade twelve as well as being a principal in schools ranging from 45-2500 students.  She has taught in Australia, Canada and the United States.  During her career as a classroom teacher, Science Council Chair of Prairie Rose School Division and principal, Marcie worked for Alberta Education designing curriculum, creating assessments and piloting Genius Hour, an instructional technique that became the focus of her dissertation.  She continues to be active in Bozeman area schools, teaching STEM activities to students at various grade levels.  Her current research focus is the development of science identity in students.  In her spare time, she can be found hiking, fly-fishing, rafting, cross-country skiing, baking, telling cheesy science jokes and creating artwork.
