Parent/Family Members

Concurrent with the Summer and Fall Freshmen Orientation Programs is a special program for parents and families designed to acquaint you with MSU and its programs, facilities and services. The program includes:

  • A variety of sessions with University staff and faculty members
  • A session with the Assistant Dean of your student's academic college
  • Informal discussions with Student Orientation Leaders There is a $40 program fee per family (which does not include meals or lodging). Information about the Parent/Family program will be included with the orientation materials your student will receive.

    9:30 am - 12:00 pm Check-in/Facility Tours
    12:00 pm Museum of the Rockies Tour
    1:30 pm Parent/Family Welcome
    2:15 pm Student Welcome
    3:00 pm Assistant Dean Meetings
    4:15 pm Walking Tour of Campus
    5:30 pm Dinner - Miller Dining Hall ($8.25) or on your own
    6:45 pm What to Expect: The College Years
    A guide to parenting your college student.
    Tuesday
    7:00 am Breakfast - Miller Dining Hall ($6.25) or on your own
    8:15 am Financial Aid Information Session
    8:45 am Fee Payment Information Session
    9:15 am Cat Card information Session
    9:45 am Academic Department Meetings
    10:00 am The Nitty Gritty of College Life
    Your chance to find out what MSU is like from a current student's perspective.
    12:00 pm Lunch - Miller Dining Hall ($7.25) or on your own
    1:00 pm Student Health Services Information Session
    2:00 pm Residence Halls - An Educational Experience
    Slide Show and residence hall tours.
    4:00 pm Campus Resources for Safety
    MSU offers many services to ensure your student has a safe and healthy MSU experience.
    4:30 pm Acedemics! What Your Student Needs to Succeed
    This session presented by a senior member of the Office of Academic Affairs will describe many of the opportunities available to your student and answer your questions about any academics and academic support at MSU.
    5:00 pm Dinner - Miller Dining Hall ($8.25) or on your own
    6:15 pm Student Athlete Information Session
    6:30 pm Choose from the Following: Greek Life Info Session, ROTC Info Session, Disabillity Services Info Session
    7:15 pm Issues Play
