Who are the Scholars?

The inaugural group of eight Montana’s Own scholars were chosen to begin the program in Spring 2022. This group of scholars have many things in common:

  • They graduated from a Montana high school.
  • They have deep roots in Montana and their home communities.
  • They're passionate about their MSU studies.
  • They're committed to entering meaningful and purposeful careers upon graduation.

This inaugural group was joined by 23 more scholars in Fall 2022. The Montana's Own scholarship is committed to maintaining these traits and values, seeking these attributes in all future scholars.

During their time as Montana’s Own Scholars, students guarantee their success by utilizing SmartyCats Tutoring and the Financial, Success and Career advising available through AYCSS. Scholars are also given opportunities to network, support, and learn from each other. These immersive and interactive workshops and events are designed so Scholars can examine and reflect on, not just their academic trajectories, but their mental and emotional wellbeing, their school-work-life balance, and their quest to find purpose and meaning in their career.
