Students Admitted for Fall FAQ's

Q: If I attend a Summer Orientation session, do I have to stay on campus?
A: Yes. If you sign up for one of the summer orientations you are required to stay on campus and pay the $100 fee. If you would prefer not to stay on campus and/or pay the $100 fee associated with the summer programs please register for the August session.

Q: How do I register for Orientation?
A: You can register online through your undergraduate Admissions Checklist. To find this, click here to get to your My Info page. Then click on ‘Enter Secure Area’ and log-in using your User ID and PIN, then click on ‘Undergraduate Admissions Checklist’ and scroll down to the Orientation section.

Q: Do I have to come to Orientation?
A: Yes. All incoming students need to complete an Orientation in order to register for classes.

Q: How will my class selection be if I attend the August Orientation?
A: Classes are gradually released throughout the summer so that all incoming freshman have a fairly comparable selection of classes to choose from. All students will be able to register for a full schedule of classes regardless of which Orientation program they choose to attend.

Q: What does the non-refundable $100 Orientation fee cover?
A: Freshmen attending the June and July Orientation programs are required to pay this fee which covers meals and housing for students during Orientation. Meals will begin with dinner on Monday night and end with breakfast Wednesday morning. Housing will be provided for Monday and Tuesday nights.

Q: I’m interested in attending the Parent/Family Orientation. How do I register?
A: Parents interested in attending the Parent/Family Orientation can register along with their student online. If your student has already registered and you would like to register later please contact the Orientation Office at (406) 994-2827 or

Q: What does the $40 Parent/Family Orientation fee cover?
A: The program includes campus tours, information sessions, sessions with the assistant dean of your student’s academic college, and a Parent/Family breakfast on the last day of Orientation. This fee does not include housing or other meals.

Q: Can I get additional housing on campus?
A: Students who wish to come early or stay longer during a summer session or parents who are attending the Parent/Family Orientation can arrange additional housing through the Conference Services Summer Housing Web site at

Q: I already registered for Orientation, but I need to change which session I want to attend. Can I switch?

Q: How do I register for the raft trip or find more information about it?

Q: Where do I park during Orientation?
A: Freshmen Students (attending the June and July or August Orientation programs) and Transfer Students completing Option 2 will be emailed detailed information regarding parking one week prior to your Orientation session. Transfer students completing Option 1 should park in the pay lot on the corner of 7th and Grant and bring your parking stub into the Orientation Office (SUB 103) to have your parking validated.

Q: How can I see what classes are offered?
A: Summer course offerings can be found online at under My Info (click on Schedule of Classes and select 2013 Summer Session) or in the Summer Bulletin. Q: How do I register for summer session courses?
A: To register for summer courses contact the Academic Advising Center at 406-994-3532 to discuss advising and registation.

Q: How do I register for fall semester courses?
A: Incoming freshmen need to register for and attend a formal Orientation Program. Incoming transfer and non-degree seeking students are required to meet with an advisor before registering for fall semester classes. Additional details on how to register for fall semester will be mailed to you.

Q: How do I register for Spring Orientation?
A: You do not need to register to attend Orientation. 

Q: Do I have to come to Orientation?
A: In order to register for spring semester courses you must complete an Orientation.

Q: Do I have to be at Orientation for the entire time?
A: Each part of Orientation is crucial and you must attend the entire program in order to register for classes.
