Brett grew up in southern Illinois (about 6 hours south of Chicago).  He spent six years in the Navy after High School working as an Aviation Electronics Technician (affectionately known as “Tweets” in the Navy and not to be confused with what you do on Twitter).  He attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (Go Salukis!) and graduated with a degree in English Education.  He taught High School English in Illinois and Arizona before getting his M.Div. from Regent College in Vancouver, BC.

We asked Brett a few questions so you could get to know him better.

Favorite movie?

Well, that is a difficult question.  If I were going to be complete in my answer, I would have to define them by genre, but in the interest of space and time, I will list a few.  Among my favorite movies are The Princess BrideCasablancaBend it Like BeckhamCold Comfort Farm, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, Sleepless in Seattle, Iron Man, Amelie, Babette’s Feast, etc.

Favorite coffee?

Actually, I don’t like coffee.  However, I am addicted to tea – Earl Grey is a favorite.

Where do you call home?

Currently, it is Bozeman, MT.  However, in the past, I have lived in Washington (state), Arizona, Illinois, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, and a big gray floating thing with airplanes on it (more commonly called an aircraft carrier).

Children?

Kris and I have two dogs.  Do they count?

Favorite discussion topic?

I like to talk about almost everything.

Specialties at the BBCC?

I like working on all of the assignments.  I especially enjoy résumés, cover letters, paper organization, oral presentations, and PowerPoint presentations.

Favorite sports teams?

MSU, of course (Go Cats!), Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, whichever team is playing the St. Louis Cardinals, India’s cricket team – I really can’t list them all…..

If you were stuck on a desert island and only had one book, what book would it be?
