Graduate Professional Advancement Grant
Funds from these awards will be used to support travel opportunities for existing MSU Bozeman graduate students from any department, to conduct poster or oral presentations at professional conferences or scholarly research. The total number of awards will depend on the available funds. An application period for these awards will open every three months. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis and with grants being awarded until funds have been exhausted.
Pre-COVID, applications typically opened on the dates listed below and stayed open until funds are exhausted.
- 1 January
- 1 April
- 1 July
- 1 October
The current application period began October 22, 2021 and will run through December 31, 2021 or until funds have been exhausted.
Graduate students must be considered in good standing. Graduate students are not eligible to receive an award within 12 months of a receiving a previous award.
There are two levels of grants.
- Standard Professional Advancement Grants: An award up to $500; requires documentation of presenting your scholarship as well as advisor approval. These will be awarded every 3 months on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Dean's Professional Advancement Grants: The award amount is up to $1000 and the application requires a student written essay. There are fewer of these and they are more competitive. This level of award is only for students not supported on GRAs since GRA-supported students may have more access to travel funds from their advisor.
Do not apply for both grants. If you apply for and do not receive the Dean's Professional Advancement Grant, you will automatically be considered for the Standard Professional Advancement Grant.
